Palm trees, lakes with fountains and resort-style amenities have created a fun tropical atmosphere at Compass Pointe, a 2,200 acre neighborhood located just 15 minutes downtown Wilmington, a city ranked as one of the top places to live in North Carolina. Compass Pointe is a certified Audubon International Gold Signature Community, protecting 70 acres as five wildlife and fauna sanctuaries. After you pass through the gated entrance, lushly landscaped roundabouts greet you at the intersections separating the Compass Pointe neighborhoods. As Real Estate Scorecard's 2015 Happiest Community of the Year, it's clearly one of the most fun coastal retirement communities to live in.

"I spent over three years researching where I wanted to retire, and I selected Compass Pointe. I have lived there for four years now, and it has exceeded my expectations in every respect. I have felt at home there since day one. The people are especially friendly and there are always many activities and clubs in which to participate. The developers have done a great job of creating excellent facilities and a beautiful environment. I also really enjoy being near the lovely city of Wilmington, NC."

"We came from NJ and checked out 5 other communities in this area and Compass Pointe took our breath away. This gated community has a Floridian flair and a resort style atmosphere with all the amenities (bells and whistles) anyone could wish for. Low taxes, warm weather and friendly people drew us into this beautifully maintained community which boasts prestine properties, with manicured lawns, lush gardens and walkways. Each neighborhood features homes with pride of ownership and makes Compass Pointe a very special place to live. "

"The word community was meant for Compass Pointe from the moment you enter residents are waving as you drive down the street. The residents are genuinely happy people who have much in common as many of us are relocating from the same geographic area up north. Even prior to moving into the community, while our homes are being built, there is a continuous on-line communication that enables neighbors to be neighborly - exchanging meaningful information that is beneficial to all. And this crowd is a party crowd; they celebrate everything...from welcoming new comers to committees for just about every occasion to all kinds of groups activities like golfing, bowling, card games, music, art, etc. And the Grand Lanai and Wellness Center are the locations for much of these shared events. As a community where a smile is the norm - happy, as well as sad times are shared. Whether you're single or a family unit, it would be very hard to find fault at Compass Pointe. Although it's predominately retirees, it doesn't feel like a retirement "village" at all...Children of all ages are welcome!"
