Carolina Colours - Friendliest Golf Community in Coastal North Carolina

Equally as important as constructed community amenities are the heartbeat and soul of a New Bern golf community. While many of us would assume all master planned communities are friendly, how many of us have lived in a neighborhood where you never speak with your neighbor next door? Or have you lived in a community where a welcoming committee greeted you the day you moved in with a warm baked apple pie? How will you know before you buy in a master planned community, if you’ll get the cold shoulder from residents or a warm apple pie?
Making the move to a new state and city takes a huge leap of faith, the hope of finding the right neighborhood to meet new friends to share common interests with. While not everyone plays golf, golf club communities do provide a formal environment to socialize and meet people. Carolina Colours is a classic example of a New Bern golf community comprised of friendly social clubs and is perhaps the friendliest golf community in the historic city of New Bern. These are the types of comments Carolina Colours’ residents have to say about their neighborhood:
"Carolina Colours quickly has developed into one of the friendliest communities we have ever lived in. We love the house and the development, but most of all, it's the people that make Carolina Colours home."
“We came down to look and knew right away that this was exactly what we wanted. What a wonderful choice we made. We couldn't be happier."
"We moved to New Bern because we were looking to live in a quaint historic town. We stumbled upon Carolina Colours and were excited to find an innovative community that offers a variety of social and recreational activities, neighbors that become friends, and a quiet place to call home."
“After several days exploring New Bern, it became apparent that Carolina Colours was going to be a great community, and one we wanted to be a part of it.”
The North Carolina coastal real estate developer of Carolina Colours is Ken Kirkman who lives in the community with his wife. When Hurricane Irene passed over Carolina Colours this past summer, this is what Ken had to say after Hurricane Irene:
“The recent storm visit resulted in no flooding, no injuries, and minimal home damage. It did, however, leave a lot of debris from trees over roads, yards and the golf course. In large part because of unrecruited volunteer efforts by a large number of residents, all roads were made passable by the day following the storm, all driveways were cleared within about another day, and most amazingly, the golf course was open for play in a week. None of this could have been accomplished without the dozens of volunteers who worked, with a smile, to help their neigbhors...I cannot thank our residents enough. Our sense of community, as is does so often, shone through.”
But don’t just believe everything you read. If you really want to sense the community's vibe and understand social clubs, make it a point to attend social events before you buy a home. The Social Events Calendar at Carolina Colours is filled with parties, dinners, classes and of course, golf tournaments to attend. Carolina Colours is a good example of friendly communities to use as a comparison. Carolina Colours is conveniently located in New Bern, named America’s Best Small Town by Time Magazine.
We visited New Bern NC in August and were so impressed at this revitalized 300 year old city. Choosing the location of a New Bern golf community is no easy task for a North Carolina coastal real estate developer. Ken Kirkman certainly knew the site for Carolina Colours is special, close to downtown and it’s a pleasure to watch this New Bern golf community mature.
