Wilmington has made a name for itself as one of the top places to live in North Carolina. Just 10 minutes to the south, Brunswick Forest is the area's fastest growing Wilmington NC golf communities near the North Carolina beaches. Comprehensive lifestyle amenities could be the secret ingredient to this community's success. For starters, the 18,000 square foot Brunswick Fitness and Wellness Center is impressive. Amenities include an indoor and outdoor swimming pool, 5 hard surface tennis courts, a sports court, and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Steam rooms, showers, personal trainers, massage therapists, and a lounge are additional attributes of the Fitness & Wellness center. Golf amenities include the award winning Cape Fear National golf course and clubhouse. Membership is optional. Brunswick Forest Reviews

4.3 / 5 (135 reviews)
"Brunswick Forest is beautiful. I love my house, and I love my neighborhood. I love Wilmington. I love the beaches. BUT...there are two very big BUTS here. 1. The pools and the facilities are woefully inadequate for the number of people here. The developers promised to build a pool for every neighborhood. So far, they've only added one tiny additional pool. There are already about 2000 homes with plans for over 7000 homes. Plus, they are going to build rental apartments here. Rental apartments? Really? In an upscale development like this? The pool is already way too crowded. Just imagine what your experience will be like at the pool once all the renters are in there and there are 7000 homes. You'll be lucky to get your toe in the pool. And on top of all that, the pool is wide open for gatecrashers. There's no security whatsoever. We have a HUGE problem with gate crashers here, and those in charge refuse to do anything about it no matter how much the residents complain. It really is a public pool funded by the high HOA fees of the residents. Free for everybody in Wilmington. Aren't we generous for paying for that? Maybe we should get a tax deduction for our donation. 2. If you have any significant medical problems, DO NOT MOVE HERE! The medical establishment here is like a third world country. It's extremely difficult to see a doctor here even when you have the best insurance. Everything is controlled by the primary care doctors like an HMO. Every specialist requires a referral from a primary regardless of your insurance. It's very hard to get a primary care doctor. If you have any type of chronic pain issues, most of them will refuse to treat you. One primary care asked me on the phone what conditions I treat for and then said that I am too complex for them...they cannot treat me. I guess they only treat well people at that office. Another primary had a huge sign over the front window: If you have chronic pain problems, you will not be treated here. That discriminates against pretty much all senior citizens. If a primary care does accept you, they likely will not understand your problems. I treated with a top-notch pulmonologist in NJ for asthma for four years. I had a severe asthma attack after I moved here. I got into a primary care office on an urgent visit. The doctor said he does not believe I have asthma...come back in 3 weeks. In the meantime, I can't breathe. So I called up a pulmonologist to get an appointment. They said you have to have a referral from a primary care to get an appointment. That is only one of many similar incidents I have experienced in the four weeks I've lived here. To put it simply, you can die in front of them and they will say "We don't do that here." "

"When we discovered there were no resale homes in Brunswick County which suited our needs we then visited all the planned communities in the area. Taking all factors into account, which are nearly universal in importance to us all, we knew, without a doubt, that Brunswick Forest was where we wanted to build and make our home for the coming years. Its layout, planned roads and pathways, amenities, and community atmosphere make it a Shangri La just outside of a city center."
