Hurricane Irene Emergency Contact Information Using Facebook

As residents on the eastern seaboard of the United States prepare for Hurricane Irene, we thought it would be helpful to provide emergency government contact information found on Facebook, a place where you may find out what’s happening in your local area on your cell phone faster, especially after the storm. It may be difficult to reach your insurance company, electrical power provider and government agency by phoning them. Facebook is another valuable communication tool you may not have thought of.
Here is a list of emergency resources we found on Facebook. If you are able, 'like' the appropriate pages before the storm. Not all Facebook pages are actively updated. Some utility companies post on Twitter instead of Facebook.
