Big Canoe Company, LLC, the management team of the private Big Canoe real estate development, known for their love of scenic Georgia mountain properties, is proud to announce that, after months of hard work, their new interactive hiking pages are live on their website making it fun for property owners to plan a day’s hike. If you love hiking trails like we do, this is a great way to see what life is like living at Big Canoe while enjoying the delightful mountain scenery and splendor of the fall foliage. Beautifully tucked in a forest, you might surprised to discover that some of the homes at Big Canoe back up to their hiking trail system.

There are only a handful of master planned communities who can boast more than 20 miles of hiking trails with wildlife, creeks and streams, and brisk mountain air, all within the gates. We were so impressed, we honored Big Canoe with a Bliss Award as Best Hiking Community of the Year.

For their interactive hiking maps, Big Canoe teamed up with Atlanta Trails, the Southeast’s premiere digital magazine of hiking and trail adventures, to map, photograph and detail every mile of their award-winning trail network. On Big Canoe's main website, you can virtually explore these new digital/interactive maps that include everything from parking, to terrain, to unique points of interest along the way. You can access these pages on the website under the CANOE LIFE tab, and by clicking on HIKING/TRAILS. Once you click on the hiking trails of your choice, click MAPS & PARKING INFO to explore the map for each.

And hiking is not all that the Big Canoe real estate development has to offer. Known throughout the region for its Georgia mountain properties, Big Canoe is full of things to do in the community. Within its gates, residents have access to 3 freshwater lakes with boating, swimming and fishing, 3 cascading waterfalls, over 50 social clubs, and 27 holes of championship golf. For fitness lovers, their 17,000 sq. ft. fitness center is equipped with state-of-the-art cardio machines, free weights, two indoor tennis courts, racquetball, and squash. And to top it off, there is a five-lane indoor lap pool with saline water treatment. You’ll never want to leave.

As for what kind of homes are at Big Canoe? Think Georgia mountain craftsmanship with stunning mountain views set in a forest, on a lake or stream, or on a golf course. Some homes even have long-range views of the Atlanta skyline. Within 4 neighborhoods, you'll find secluded cabins, cozy homes, and Appalachian estates. In Choctaw Village, golf course mountain homes are inspired by styles from the early 1900's, and priced from the low $400's. In High Gap, hilltop home sites range from 1 to 3 acres overlooking the Amicalola National Forest, with homes from the upper $500's. In Wildcat, nearly half of its 700-acres have been set aside for usable greenspace, and homes here are priced from the $450's. And in The Bluffs At Ridgeview, heavily wooded,1.5-acre home sites start in the low $100's, with stunning mountain homes in the low $500's.

Big Canoe has everything that nature lovers dream of - from the freshwater lakes, to the waterfalls, to the forests and mountain scenery. And in the surrounding town of Marble Hill and Jasper, there are plenty of options for shopping, dining and entertainment. Perhaps best of all, when you need to catch a flight, or do some business in the city, Atlanta is just one hour away from Big Canoe by highway. This is one of the reasons why families of all ages choose Big Canoe.

Autumn is the perfect season to grab your hiking boots and visit the mountain community. The air is cool. The fall foliage colors are in full bloom, and the hiking trails are rife with local mountain wildlife and fauna.
