Officially 'The Golf Capital of Tennessee', Baby Boomers relocating to Tennessee are drawn to the area for three main reasons: mild weather, central location and for a lower cost of living. Middle Tennessee has four distinct seasons. The winters are mild and summers reasonably cool thanks to the higher elevation of the Cumberland Plateau.

What makes Fairfield Glade popular with retirees? The amenity list is quite lengthy: 4 championship golf courses, a comprehensive wellness center, new recreation center, 12 tennis courts; 4 indoor 8 outdoor, 4 swimming pools; 2 indoor 2 outdoor, fine and casual dining options at 2 country clubs, 11 spring fed lakes, 2 marina's, equestrian stables and miles of walking trails. Stonehenge Golf Club is ranked a Top 100 Golf Course by Golf Magazine. Fairfield Glade has several mountain golf courses.

The Village Green Mall within the community offers restaurants, a salon and daily conveniences. The newest neighborhoods at Fairfield Glade North have modern street lighting, decorative mailboxes and the power is buried underground. The earlier built neighborhoods have older homes yet have the advantage of being situated closer to the community's amenities.

Residents here at one of the top Tennessee golf communities have the flexible opportunity to pay for amenities 'a la carte' verses expensive annual memberships. For example, a la carte usage fees at the comprehensive CMC Wellness Center, are approximately $44.50 a month; golf at famous Stonehenge is $41 for 18 holes; tennis $7 per court hour; the use of the swimming pools $200 annually and marina boat rentals are as low as $16 per hour. Folks only pay for the amenities they use which makes it attractive to those comparing resort retirement communities.

Convenient medical care is within the neighborhood at the CMC Wellness Center operated by Cumberland Medical Center. The new 30,000 square medical center opened in early 2014. Mammography, physical therapy, aquatic therapy are just a few of the medical services on property. 'Very friendly people' is the most common accolade we hear from property owner reviews about Fairfield Glade. Almost 100 social clubs are active keeping the small town friendly lifestyle alive and well at one of the most well known Tennessee golf communities.

In addition to constructed amenities, natural amenities surround the neighborhoods. The Cumberland Plateau is the largest timbered plateau on the East Coast. Catoosa Wildlife Management area is adjacent to the golf community with 84,000 acres of protected forest. Fall Creek Falls State Park is Tennessee's most visited state park and is only 45 minutes from Fairfield Glade. Crossville and Cookeville TN are the nearest cities rich in history, culture, deliciousness with plenty of educational opportunities. Crossville is called 'The Golf Capital of Tennessee' because half of the golf courses in Tennessee are located in a small circumference. Golfers searching for mountain golf courses will find Fairfield Glade a great option when relocating to Tennessee.

Real estate taxes are low compared to the rest of the Southeast. If you're searching for affordable resort retirement communities, you'll find plenty of options here. Buyers can purchase a new home, find a resale, select a maintenance free townhome or buy a lot to build on later at Fairfield Glade. Panoramic views of the mountains, golf course homes, lakefront homes or private wooded homes are available. Golf course lots for sale at start in the $20k's, lakefront lots $100k's and mountain views lots from $150k. Fairfield Glade approved builders include Cumberland Construction Plus, Lakeland Construction and Fairfield Homes. Re-sale townhomes start in the low $150k's or new townhomes are priced in the mid $230k's; re-sale single family homes for sale begin in the $150k's.

"Fairfield Glade is a relaxed, pet friendly, community which offers a lot for nature lovers. Many homes have a back yard that is surrounded by trees. It offers a place for viewing deer, a variety of song birds (including bluebirds) squirrels, and other wildlife. It also has 11 lakes, and 10 have fishing docks and boat ramps. The boats have restricted speed, so it is easy to catch fish, or kayak among the ducks, while listening to the birds chirping on the wooded banks. Many of the lakes have surrounding homes, so you are never too isolated if you are out by yourself in a canoe or kayak. With 8,000 residents, it's large enough that you can maintain your privacy while still participating in various activities and groups. It offers year round, guided, weekly 1-2 mile hikes through the 20 miles of trails, and during Nov.-Feb. also has guided weekly walks on the paved golf paths around 9 holes of the Heatherhurst Golf Course. In addition to the 20 miles of wooded hiking trails, there are also 4 miles of paved walkways, which are dog and bike friendly. The trails have over 20 bridges and over 40 benches so that you can sit and listen to the nature that surrounds you. The trails all have posted signs, trail maps (which you can also access from your I phone) and numbered sign posts every 1/4 mile. So, if you sprain an ankle, you can call 911 and they know exactly where to send help. If you like to enjoy nature with others, there is a Backyard Birders Club, Bass Fishing club, Kayak Club, Friends of the Glade Trails Club, and a Hiking club which hikes within 120 mile range in TN Parks. FFG has 5 waterfalls within 60 miles and 17 within 120 miles. FFG also has a horseback riding stable, which offers private boarding and public riding through wooded trails along a stream, up the mountainside. FFG is adjacent (on North side) to Catoosa Wildlife Mgmt. area, which is 128 sq. miles of wildlife, funded by hunters and fisherman. It is home to deer, wild turkey, wild boar, ruffed grouse, quail, rabbits, fox squirrels and mourning doves. The rivers contain small mouth bass, rock bass, bluegill and muskellunge. Other activities are Whitewater rafting and four-wheel drive gravel and dirt roads for exploration. FFG has a Sportsman Club of 500 members, which offers 10 different shooting programs, including Skeet, sporting clays, Pistol, Rifle and youth programs. "
