Courage, strength and commitment to a bigger cause. To us, these words define characteristics of all branches of our active military and Veterans. Where did America’s men and woman find the guts to be so brave? It’s hard for us to relate. But we do know we're forever thankful and want to tell you. We're thankful to the parents who raised extraordinary American citizens. Thankful to the children for being strong while their soldier parent is off at war. Thankful to America’s soldiers in the present and to every soldier in the past, who fought and died for me. Thankful to the businesses who are willing to give free meals, generous discounts and gifts to our men and women of honor this Friday, November 11, 2011.

If you’re like us and plan on spoiling the honored veterans in your family like my husband Dennis who served in war as a Marine, here is a list of businesses to visit this week. Not for the discount itself, but to allow the gift of honor these businesses are bestowing to America’s Veterans and active duty military.

Applebee’s - All Veterans and active duty military eat free from a selective menu.

Chilli’s - All Veterans and active duty military eat free from a selective menu.

Golden Corral - Monday November 14, 2011 is Military Appreciation Day where all branches of the military eat dinner free.

Famous Dave’s - Discounts or free meals at various locations for Veterans on Veterans Day.

Hooters - 10 Free Chicken Wings with a beverage for Veterans and active duty military on Veterans Day.

Krispy Kreme - Free donut for Veterans and active duty military on Veterans Day.

McCormick & Schmidts Seafood Restaurants - On Sunday November 13 at various locations, a special meal will be served to Veterans.

Outback Steakhouse - November 7 - 11th, Veterans and active duty military receive a free Bloomin’ Onion with a Coke Cola product.

Subway Restaurants - Free six inch sub for Veterans on Veterans Day at participating Subway Restaurants.

Texas Roadhouse - Free meal until 4pm on Veterans Day for Veterans and active duty military.

T G I Fridays - Buy one get one free meal for Veterans on Veterans Day at participating restaurants.

UNO Chicago Grill - 19.43% discount on meals November 7-15 for active duty military and Veterans.

Dollar General - 10% discount for Veterans and active duty military with a coupon.

Foot Locker - 20% discount year round for Veterans and active duty military.

Home Depot - 10% discount for Veterans. Lowe’s - 10% discount for Veterans.

National Parks - Veterans Day Weekend - Free admission for Veterans.

Sam’s Club - Free collapsible Hugo Canes to Veterans on November 9, 10 & 11. No membership required.

7-11 Stores - Free Slurpee to Veterans on Friday November 11, 2011 from 11am - 7pm.
