BLUFFTON OYSTER COMPANY - 63 Wharf St, Bluffton, SC 29910 Phone: 843-757-4010

Specializing in fresh seafood, the Bluffton Oyster Company holds the interesting distinction of sitting on reclaimed land, developed from more than a century of discarded shells. The oyster business has been thriving in Bluffton all that time, with several successful oyster operations in this area. While the delicacy of May River oyster meat reigned supreme, shells were also sold for road surfacing and chicken scratch. A typical southern oyster house, you'll find the shell stock unloaded on the docks, washed with fresh water, and then put straight onto the shucking tables.
