"After researching and visiting communities in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia for 4+ years, my brother-in-law who lives in the Chicago area, told us we should look at Tellico Village (he had just visited relatives who live in the village). I was a little skeptical at first as Tennessee never really popped up on our radar screen. Having said that, we made our first visit and were pleasantly surprised how nice Tennessee was and in particular Tellico Village. Coming from the flat plains of the Midwest it was refreshing to see the mountains and rolling terrain of Tennessee. When we first pulled into Tellico Village on Tellico Parkway (highway 444) we didn’t see any houses as Tellico Village seems to be cut out of a forest and the individual neighborhoods are set off the main highway mostly among the trees. You won’t find row after row of the same houses here, which is what my spouse and I were looking for after visiting other communities. When asked why I moved to Tellico Village I respond that I felt I could find a nice house almost anywhere, but it was the people that attracted me to Tellico Village. We have met so many nice people, individuals from Florida, Illinois, Colorado, Michigan, Kentucky, Ohio and Wisconsin to name a few. Almost everyone is so inviting and inclusive here, we have met so many nice people and have participated in so many activities. Tellico Village’s amenities are plentiful, the 33-mile lake, 3 golf courses, wellness center, swimming pools, tennis, pickle ball, and hiking are just a few of the activities. The close proximity to Knoxville and the University of Tennessee adds additional activities and cultural attractions. If you are considering moving to an active adult community, do yourself a favor and visit Tellico Village and sign up for a ‘Discovery Package’, I do not think you will be disappointed. Almost every day, my wife and I say we are so glad our brother-in-law suggested we visit Tellico Village."
