There is a small causeway across Johnson Creek connecting Fripp South Carolina and Harbor Island to Hunting Island on the south side, and a swing drawbridge crosses the Harbor River and connects Harbor Island to St. Helena Island on the west side. Living at Harbor Island means sharing the landscape with an incredible array of wildlife. The nearby Beaufort Barrier Islands Important Bird Area is a rookery in which over 200 species of birds thrive. The freshwater lagoons and sandbars here provide ample nesting opportunities for the thousands of wading birds including threatened species. Every spring, at high tide under a full moon, thousands of Horseshoe crabs lay their eggs here, which provide food for the birds during their annual spring migration. In the summer months the island’s beaches are protected nesting sites for endangered Loggerhead turtles.

Here in one of the finest South Carolina beach communities you’ll find a mixture of homes styles ranging from single family homes to beach villas.
